À propos de Noel
My name is Noel Swords. I'm Irish. I'm a native speaker of English. I have 22 years' experience teaching English in Ireland, Brazil, and Italy. I also have over one hundred written recommendations from past students.
I prioritise teaching my students skills, HOW to learn English, and not only WHAT to learn. The more skills you learn, the more independent you become as a student, the more control you have over your studies, and the less you need me. This is good for your motivation and your interest in learning English.
Please note that my lessons are not traditional grammar lessons. We do study grammar but we do it by means of speaking. My students are active students who read and speak all the time in my lessons.

I focus very much on speaking and reading in the lessons. At the beginning of the lesson, we read for no more than five minutes. Then we analyse the text for common expressions: collocations, phrasal verbs, phrases, etc. That takes another five minutes. The objective is to train the student to notice more when he or she reads.
Then we speak and I correct all mistakes: vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, etc. As the student speaks, I type the corrections on screen, and the student revises this information after the lesson.
At the end of the lesson, I give feedback on the mistakes made. I also advise the student about the most effective ways to revise the mistakes made. I usually highlight one or two mistakes as being particularly important so that the student can prioritise what to learn.
But correcting mistakes is not enough. I also teach my students skills. Skills will help you to understand HOW to learn and not only WHAT to learn.
Writing is optional. We don't do listening practice in the lessons.
At all times, I try to persuade my students to experiment with different techniques for revising and memorising new words and expressions.

Your First Free Lesson
The first free lesson is in fact a free online consultation which can last anything from fifteen to thirty minutes, depending on the number of questions the student asks. The first free lesson is in English. I will explain my lessons and my approach to teaching, and I'll answer all your questions. After the consultation, you can think about what we discussed and decide whether or not you would like to take lessons with me.
