I have studied and worked in English in the past.
i studied in the United Arab Emirates for three years at an English-speaking university (Sharjah University) and passed the Toefl PBT there. I have worked for a year in a travel agency in Dubai as well, where more than 80% of communications are in English.

I think the key when learning a new language is to keep it interesting and to practise and practise.
Of course, first, it is important to see with the student what is her/his level and their purpose for learning the language.
after that, what are their prefered methods of learning ( if the student doesn't know yet, no worries we can figure that out together ;) ).
also, general interests of the student, and subjects that they might like to explore in English.
My job then is to collect and create content that would hopefully help them reach their goal and make it easier and more interesting to learn the language.
