À propos d'Olive

Hello, I am Olive.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Foreign Languages and Translation, and I am currently completing a Master's in Big Data Analytics for Business at IESEG School of Management. Alongside my studies, I have spent over 5 years teaching English and French to learners of all levels and backgrounds, and it remains one of the things I love most.

One of my proudest moments as a teacher was taking a complete beginner from zero to A1/A2 level in just two months. Watching someone go from not understanding a single sentence to holding real conversations is genuinely why I do this.

I am a native English speaker and fully fluent in French, which means I can teach you the way each language is actually spoken, not just the textbook version. I am also currently learning German myself, so I deeply understand what it feels like to be a learner navigating a new language.

If you are looking for someone patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in your progress, I would love to be that teacher for you. Let's book a class and start working toward your language goals together.

My lessons are practical, engaging, and tailored to exactly where you are in your language journey, whether you are starting from zero or working to sound more confident and natural.

Here is what you can expect in a typical class:
Real conversation practice from day one, because the fastest way to learn a language is actually to use it, not just study it.
Repetition and drills to help new vocabulary and grammar genuinely stick, not just get memorised for a day.
Visual aids, flashcards, and short videos to make tricky concepts click, especially useful for beginners building their first foundations.

Light homework between sessions, short readings or videos, so our class time is spent on discussion and practice, not just review.
Above all, I create a space where it feels safe to make mistakes, because confidence is just as important as grammar when it comes to actually speaking a language.

Every learner is different, so I adjust my pace and approach based on your goals, your level, and how you learn best. My goal is simple: by the end of our lessons together, you should feel genuinely capable and confident, not just able to recite rules.

  • 1) Parlez-vous couramment cette langue en raison de vos origines ou parce qu'un professeur vous a donné envie de l'apprendre ?

English is my first language; I grew up speaking it in Nigeria, where English is the official language alongside several local languages. So for me, it has always been a natural part of who I am, not something I had to learn from scratch. What pushed me to actually study language deeply was a different journey entirely, a Bachelor's degree in Foreign Languages and Translation, which taught me how to think about language as a system, not just something you speak instinctively.
  • 2) Citez le personnage vivant, historique ou fictif qui est, selon vous, le représentant emblématique de la culture en question.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. She is Nigerian, writes in English, and has become one of the most powerful voices showing the world that English does not belong to one culture; it carries African stories, African humour, and African ways of seeing the world just as naturally as it carries British or American ones. She represents exactly what I love about English: it is a language that can hold many cultures inside it at once.
  • 3) Y a-t-il, dans celle-ci, un mot, une expression, une tradition ou un comportement typique qui vous amuse particulièrement ?

I love how English is full of idioms that make no literal sense at all until someone explains them: it's raining cats and dogs, break a leg, spill the tea. The first time you hear them, they sound completely absurd, and then once you understand them, you start using them constantly. I always enjoy that moment with my students, watching their faces go from confusion to delight.
  • 4) En quoi savoir parler cette langue est-il important, que ce soit scolairement, professionnellement ou d'un point de vue plus personnel ?

English has genuinely opened every door in my own life. It is the language that lets me study, work, and build a career across different countries and industries. I am currently completing a Master's in Data Analytics in France and about to start an internship at a major international company, and English has been the thread connecting all of it. Beyond the professional side, speaking English fluently gives you access to an enormous amount of culture, conversation, and opportunity; it genuinely changes what is possible for you.
  • 5) Quelle est la difficulté principale de cette langue et qu’est-ce qui peut favoriser son apprentissage ?

The greatest difficulty is usually pronunciation and the gap between how words are written and how they actually sound. English spelling rules are famously inconsistent. What helps the most is simply speaking from day one, even badly, even with mistakes. Students who wait until they "know enough" before speaking take much longer to progress than those who jump in and practise real conversation immediately, mistakes and all.
  • 6) Une anecdote en rapport avec votre métier ou votre scolarité à nous raconter ?

One of my proudest teaching moments was with a student who started from absolute zero; she could not say a single sentence in English when we began. Over two months of consistent lessons, she went from zero to confidently holding A1/A2 level conversations. Watching that transformation happen in real time, seeing her go from nervous and silent to genuinely proud of herself, reminded me exactly why I love teaching.
  • 7) Aidez-nous à vous connaître un peu mieux en évoquant vos différents voyages.

My biggest journey so far has been moving from Nigeria to France to pursue my Master's degree, and along the way, spending time in Belgium for a professional internship. Each move taught me something different about adapting, communicating across cultures, and building a life in a new country pretty much from scratch. I am now about to move to Paris for a new chapter, so the journey is very much still ongoing.
  • 8) Qu'est-ce qui fait de vous un Superprof, en plus de cette capacité à s'exprimer en plusieurs langues ?

I think what makes me a good teacher is that I do not just teach a language, I teach confidence. A lot of people know more English than they think; what holds them back is fear of making mistakes. My approach is built around creating a space where mistakes are completely normal, and conversation comes first, grammar rules second. I bring patience, real encouragement, and a genuine investment in watching my students grow, and I have the results to show it.
