À propos de Man
I taught IELTS for a year and a half before moving to France, and I sat the exam myself before that. Both matter here, and for different reasons. Teaching it means I know what the examiners are actually scoring, which is narrower and more mechanical than most candidates expect. Sitting it means I remember what it feels like to have a visa and a university place hanging on one Saturday morning.
That combination shapes how I teach. I do not tell students their writing was good. I tell them which descriptor is holding them at a 6 and what specifically has to change to move it. Most people preparing alone are working hard on the wrong things, and the fastest gains usually come from correcting that rather than from adding hours.
I now live in Paris, where I am finishing an engineering master's in Data and Artificial Intelligence and working as a research intern in a lab. So I write and present in academic English constantly, and I can help with that side too if you need English for study or work and not only for a score.
I work with adults and university students, most of them preparing for a specific deadline. Tell me your target band, your test date, and what happened last time if you have already taken it, and we will work backwards from there.

Who these lessons are for
Adults and university students preparing for IELTS Academic or General Training, whether for a university application, a visa, or a move abroad. I also prepare engineering and business school students for TOEIC, which is a graduation requirement at most French schools. Sessions run from around B1 upwards. If you need band 6.5 or 7 and are not there yet, or you have taken the test once and plateaued, that is exactly what I work on.
How I teach
I taught IELTS for a year and a half, and the single biggest thing I learned is that most people preparing alone spend their time on the wrong thing. They grind vocabulary lists when the actual problem is that they do not know what the examiner is scoring. Writing Task 2 is where bands are usually lost, and almost always because of structure and argument development rather than English. Speaking scores stall because candidates answer questions in three sentences when the band descriptors want extended, developed answers.
So I teach against the band descriptors directly. You will know why a piece of your writing is a 6 and precisely what makes it a 7, rather than being told it was good. That difference is most of the work.
How a session runs
The free first lesson is a diagnostic. I run a short mock across the modules that concern you and identify your weakest band, since that is what caps your overall score and it is often not the one people assume.
After that, sessions are 60 or 90 minutes and follow the same shape. We review the work you did since last time, with real marking against the descriptors rather than vague feedback. Then we drill one specific weakness with timed practice under exam conditions, because everything changes once the clock is running. You leave each session with a defined task, usually one writing piece or a set of timed readings.
For Speaking we do full mock interviews with all three parts, recorded so you can hear the hesitation and repetition that you cannot hear while talking.
What I bring
A year and a half of teaching IELTS, and I have sat the exam and then actually used the result to move abroad and study. So I know both what the examiners want and what the whole process feels like when a deadline and a visa are riding on it.
I am currently completing an engineering master's in Data and Artificial Intelligence in Paris and work as a research intern in a lab, so I am also comfortable with academic and technical English if you need it for study or work rather than only for the exam.
Lessons are online, which suits exam prep well since we share documents and mark writing together on screen. In person possible around Paris and La Défense. First lesson free, and worth taking as the diagnostic even if you go elsewhere afterwards.
