Hello, my name is Stephan and I'm an American from California living in France in order to improve my French, go back to school, and learn about European culture. I graduated from San Francisco State University with honors with a degree in Philosophy and have two years of full time English teaching experience.

My teaching method consists of finding a student's English level and then introducing them to the language overtime through different mediums, always in English. One week we might read an article and dictate the material for a lesson based more on oral comprehension, or listen to music with a printout of the lyrics with about half removed. Another lesson may be just having a conversation where I will suggest preferable vocabulary, and allow the student to practice forming sentences by themselves. For written practice, I assign homework and correct it with the student the following lesson. I have many different approaches and all are introduced based on the students' needs, strengths and weaknesses. Most of all, I want the student to feel like they want to learn English and are inspired by it, because enthusiastic learning is much more long lasting than begrudging learning in my experience.
