This year, I contacted Violette to get help for my English course. I was following the
year-11 syllabus in France, studying remotely with the CNED (National Centre for
Distance Education). Due to the intense course structure, I decided to take private
lessons in order to maintain a consistent work rhythm.
I ended the year with an overall grade of 19,25/20 for this specific subject.
With Violette, I covered topics such as street art, the protection of the environment,
racism, music, and many other themes.
Together, we practised every language skill: listening and reading, writing and, above
all speaking, which helped me to make significant progress and gave me more
confidence to express myself in English.
During this year with Violette, I had a lot of fun. She is a very kind, funny and friendly
teacher. It is obvious that she loves to teach English but, most of all, that she loves to
see her students make progress. She has made me and still makes me eager to
learn this beautiful language.
Something that I really liked in her approach is that she not only adjusted to my
needs but also to the things I am passionate about. For example, because I am
training to become a professional musician, she made me at times work on
documents which had a strong connection to music.
In addition, Violette put strategies in place to help me overcome my difficulties.
Another very convenient aspect of Violette’s tuition is that after each session and on
the same day, she emails back the lesson’s material and the written notes, as well as
a summary of what has been covered during the session. This summary also
includes recommendations and homework for the next session. This helped me a lot
with making progress.
To finish, since I live in France and she lives in England, the remote video tuition has
given me more freedom, especially since Violette manages the IT aspect very well.

Cette année j’ai fait appel à Violette pour m’aider à travailler pour mes cours
d’anglais ; j’ai suivi la classe de Seconde générale par correspondance avec
le CNED. Etant donné que le programme était chargé, j’ai décidé de prendre des
cours pour maintenir un rythme de travail régulier.
J’ai obtenu pour cette matière19,25 de moyenne générale sur l’année.
Avec Violette, j’ai abordé les thèmes du street art, de la sauvegarde de la planète, du
sport, du racisme, de la musique et bien d’autres.
Ensemble, nous avons travaillé toutes les compétences du langage: compréhension
de l’oral et de l’écrit, production écrite, et en particulier l’expression orale, ce qui m’a
aidé à progresser et à me sentir plus à l’aise pour parler en langue étrangère.

Pendant cette année avec Violette, je me suis beaucoup amusé : c’est une prof très
gentille, drôle et sympathique. On voit qu’elle aime beaucoup enseigner l’anglais,
mais surtout voir progresser ses élèves. Elle m’a donné et me donne toujours envie
d’apprendre cette langue magnifique. 
Une chose que j’ai vraiment apprécié chez elle, c’est qu’elle s’est adaptée à mes
besoins, mais surtout à mes passions. Par exemple, comme je suis un musicien, elle
m’a fait également travailler sur des documents en lien avec à la musique.
 De plus, Violette a tout fait pour que je ne sois pas en difficulté et a mis en place des
stratégies pour m’aider dans mes lacunes. 
Une autre chose très pratique chez Violette : après chaque session, elle envoie tous
les supports de cours et les traces écrites ainsi qu'un récapitulatif par mail où je peux
aussi trouver des conseils pour la leçon suivante ; cela m’a beaucoup aidé à
progresser. 
Pour finir, comme j’habite en France et elle en Angleterre, les cours à distance (en
visio) m’ont donné plus de liberté, d’autant plus que Violette gère très bien l’aspect
informatique.

I have had Violette as my french tutor for the past 9 months for one hour a week and I have really enjoyed improving my French with her. We do a mix of conversational french at the start and then we look at the structure of the language which we then put into practice through reading and speaking with each other. We will also listen to examples, dissect it and then find the appropriate responses to it. Violette is patient and enthusiastic. Her class plans cover a good amount but still allow me to delve into each subject and have a solid foundation for the learning and progression in my understanding of the language. I would really recommend Violette to anyone wanting to learn or improve their French as she is an excellent teacher and a native French speaker too which I think is also important when being taught the language.

Violette is incredibly kind and patient, which was exactly what I needed as someone with a low French level. I needed someone I could be vulnerable to make mistakes with, and she allowed me to do that. It's also clear she puts a huge amount of work into her lessons, yet she's always willing to tailor to what you need.

Violette is a wonderful French teacher for me ! She is super patient and professional with French leaners , I have started French lessons with her with no previous background, but have since thoroughly enjoyed our weekly class and improved my French with lots of joy and fun definitely recommend her !

Violette has been giving my 5yo son French lessons for several months and it is the highlight of his week! He enjoys it so much and she always makes the lessons very fun and engaging. Communications are very good - she keeps us updated each week on what he has learned and his progress, and sends through the various resources she has used so we can practice at home. Violette makes an effort to theme her lessons around the seasons - Summer holidays, Halloween, Christmas, etc. This keeps the content fresh and interesting. My son has made really good progress with her and is already reading and doing phonics in French.

Violette is a very engaging teacher and manage to tailor the lesson to the children’s interests. My son is very motivated every week for the learning session and has developed immensely his French skills.

J’ai commencé les cours avec Violette fin janvier et arrêté début juin dans l’optique de préparer un concours pour rentrer dans une section internationale. Violette a su s’adapter à ma demande et a fait tout son possible pour me préparer au concours au mieux. Toutes ces séances étaient enrichissantes et adaptées. J’ai très rapidement progressé et pris en assurance en anglais. Les cours étaient construits et riches. J’ai pu à la fois travailler la grammaire mais aussi la prononciation, la compréhension et la construction d’un essai. Violette a été patiente et à l’écoute. I started lessons with Violette at the end of January and stopped at the beginning of June with a view to preparing for a competitive examination to enter an international section. Violette adapted to my needs and did her utmost to help me prepare for the exam. All the sessions were enriching and appropriate. I made rapid progress and gained confidence in English. The lessons were well structured and rich. I was able to work on grammar as well as pronunciation, comprehension and essay construction. Violette was patient and a good listener. As a dyslexic French Studies Graduate and a French speaking professional, I was looking for a mentor with an excellent level of French and with a background in teaching to a high level. The hope was to help me maintain my level of French and to increase my confidence post-studies going into the world of work. I was delighted to find Violette who even worked at the same Uni I went to! I have weekly lessons over Zoom.

A bit about Violette’s sessions:
Violette’s teaching/mentoring style suits me perfectly (not an easy feat for someone with Dyslexia!). With focus on all speaking, grammar, reading, and writing. She is so motivated and her positivity and encouragement shines through. It felt like we got on from the moment we met.
Her lesson plans are tailored to my preferred learning style, using PowerPoints which I can interact with (I can type on her screen even over Zoom!!). These help me visualise the topic, get involved with exercises (most importantly speaking!) and give me a point of reference after the sessions.
We tackle subjects which increase my overall knowledge of the French language and French culture, whilst also translating into my needs for work and day to day interactions.
We have also focused on grammar, doing exercises and using those helpful PowerPoint slides to go along side her explanations.
For speaking fluency (my main aim and the one central to our lessons), we speak on a topic and she writes down what I have said. We then go over the text to look at anything which could have been said in a clearer/ more French way! I don’t need to worry about making notes at all. Super helpful and just what I need!
Violette also supports me with any extra work I have done during the week. Also sending me detailed write ups of every lesson, along with any additional learning materials or PowerPoints covered in the lesson. These are a godsend for me, as it helps me remember the session and build on my learning.

I have been tutored by Violette for over 6 months. She is a great tutor with a clear and methodical teaching style. I have found her lessons engaging. She personalises lessons according to your situation. She is very adaptable and happy to answer any questions away from the lesson topic.
