À propos de John
I'm an American saxophonist who's lived in Egypt, the Netherlands and now Belgium. I've been active as a full-time professional musician for over 20 years. My main focus is free improvisation but I've done everything from classical and jazz to blues and cumbia.
I have over 50 albums as a leader and aside from my numerous bands I've worked as a soloist for groups ranging from the Metropole Orkest to Flipper, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Mohamed Mounir.

If you're interested in learning saxophone, flute, clarinet and/or music theory, improvisation, or musical composition, I'm offering private lessons catering to what and how you want to learn. I usually try to do a balance of theory and practical work, mixing études with learning by ear and also finding ways to play the actual music you want to play. If there's a song you like, we'll learn that, along with the scales and various other aspects of music it takes to be a well-rounded musician. It's all about building your knowledge and technical abilities while enjoying the expressive and joyful side of music.
I've also taught at international schools and have successfully helped students progress through the Trinity music system.
I have a studio in my house so lessons are possible here or at your place.
All ages and levels are welcome!
