À propos de Shavine
I am an experienced French tutor with a background in both language and law. I hold a double degree in Law and Language Studies from the University of Grenoble Alpes, as well as a Master's in International Law. I hold a deep understanding of the French language, its cultural intricacies, as it is my mother tongue. These qualities enable me to provide a comprehensive and immersive learning experience. Fluent in French, English, Spanish and Kurdish, I connect with learners from diverse linguistic backgrounds. With over two years' experience teaching French to international students at my home university, I have consistently helped students achieve measurable success. I have also taught English in France, which has further refined my teaching methods. I have a varied teaching background which includes both group and one-to-one teaching. Over the course of a year, I taught English to a class of 33 first-year law students, designing lessons to meet their specific language needs in a legal context. I created a variety of written and oral comprehension exercises to enhance their understanding and regularly set homework for them to complete at home and send to me for correction and feedback. I also taught a smaller group of 15 students twice a week for a year, which allowed me to give them more individual attention. For the last two years, I have worked with individual students once or twice a week, depending on their goals and autonomy. I tailored my lessons to each student's needs, offering structured exercises and tasks to help them improve their written and spoken language skills, with regular feedback to ensure progress.

I tailor each lesson to meet the individual needs of each student, using a learner-centred approach based on the latest language acquisition techniques. In the first session, I assess the student's strengths, weaknesses and learning style. Based on this, I create a structured learning plan focused on their specific goals, whether it's improving conversational fluency, mastering legal vocabulary or preparing for exams. I use active learning strategies such as task-based exercises, spaced repetition for vocabulary retention and scenario-based learning to ensure that students can use their language skills in real-life situations. I also create customised vocabulary quizzes on Quizlet, allowing students to practise key terms at their own pace and reinforce their learning. This approach, along with other interactive methods, ensures constant engagement and measurable progress. To monitor this progress, I provide study guides, personalised assignments and practice tests to help each student achieve their goals. During our sessions, I use formative assessments to provide real-time feedback and adjust strategies as needed. My aim is to ensure that students not only succeed academically, but also develop long-term language skills and confidence. I have a flexible schedule and I adapt to my students' availability to offer consistent support as they progress in their language learning journey.
