I was a professionally trained chef for 7 years in Britain, working in all kinds of places: hotels, restaurants, castles, bistros, gasto pubs - you name it, I've worked there.
4 years ago however, I decided that a dedicated life in kitchen was a wasted one, so I trained to become an English teacher and moved abroad.
I have taught English at schools, language academies and done private tutoring in France and España for people of all ages.

I mostly helped students prepare for their TOEIC examination, either for their profession or studies. I offered detailed and personal face to face advice on how to maximise their chances of selecting the correct answer, how to better their time management and of course teaching grammar and improving pronunciation. My previous workplace at the school in Centelles prepared me with the classroom environment however this was another challenge as this was my first time planning and teaching my own classroom. The ages of the students ranged from 18-55 however the average age was about 22, as the university was only 1km away.

Employed as part of a new team by a new head chef that wanted a fresh and exciting new start to a very traditional restaurant in a 13th century castle in the Scottish Highlands. Known for its infamous whisky bar, I was part of a team trying to get a third Rosette and higher. I worked on starter section and made fresh soups several times a week, hot meats and cold salads for starters.

A new trendy cafe/bistro located on the infamous Pier Head in Liverpool, I would often open up early in preparation for the breakfast shift. There was a strong emphasis on preparing food with fresh - and if possible local ingredients. I was able to manage all sections of the kitchen confidently, including the pass where all the elements of the dish was constructed together. Keeping in line with company’s strict regulations and food specifications. Training others and ensuring others to keep company standards. Filling out due diligence cleaning and food temperature paperwork. Closing down and cleaning checks after service finishes for the evening. Checking stock rotation and food wastage.

A big step up from my previous employers, I was working alongside highly qualified chefs and was introduced to preparing fresh ingredients at a high standard. I was involved with banqueting for large weddings and events, catering 3 course meals for parties of up to 300 people.
Responsible for the preparation of fresh produce and ingredients and keeping of the restaurant’s Larder section for both lunch and evening service.
Cooking and delivering a wide selection of food for the staff that worked there throughout the day and night.
Making canapés for the executive lounge where important VIPs would relax during an evening.
Hilton required a high level of concentration, stamina and excellent food and hygiene standards.

The jewel in The Crown was it’s sunday roast dinners, which was made fresh every Sunday and would attract customers from the town.
