Hi there! I'm Sarah, a 28 year-old lawyer, artist and drummer (I started drumming only a few weeks ago so I'm quite terrible at it but I've been dreaming about starting the learning process for so long now that I had to mention it in my profile haha). I have graduated from a Master's degree in Intellectual Property Law from Trinity College Dublin and I'm currently working at the European Union's Intellectual Property Office based in Alicante, Spain.
I love to paint, sculpt and draw (I obviously missed my vocation). I'm French and Belgian with a middle-eastern heritage :)
I am relaxed and very comfortable with my students. I like my lessons to be fun and interactive. I need the student to be willing to talk a lot because I want you to get better at French, not me haha. So we'll need to share and discuss a lot, you and I. Also because I think it's important to get to know each other better so we could be comfortable quicker and practice French-speaking in a more entertaining way.
I never judge. I don't want you to get nervous at the idea of making mistakes. The more mistakes you'll make the more you'll learn ! :) I recently starting singing class and it made me feel so vulnerable and anxious at first, but the teacher is there to help me so the more notes I miss while singing the more enthusiastic she was to help me improve haha. Let's think this way for your learning too!

¡Hola a todos! Soy Sarah, una abogada de 28 años, artista y baterista (empecé a tocar la batería hace sólo unas semanas, así que soy bastante terrible en ello, pero he estado soñando con iniciar el proceso de aprendizaje desde hace tanto tiempo que tenía que mencionarlo en mi perfil jaja). Tengo un máster en Derecho de la Propiedad Intelectual por el Trinity College de Dublín y actualmente trabajo en la Oficina de Propiedad Intelectual de la Unión Europea con sede en Alicante, España.
Me encanta pintar, esculpir y dibujar (obviamente he perdido mi vocación). Soy francesa y belga con herencia de oriente medio :)
Soy relajada y me siento muy cómoda con mis alumnos. Me gusta que mis clases sean divertidas e interactivas. Necesito que el alumno esté dispuesto a hablar mucho porque quiero que tú mejores en francés, no yo jaja. Así que tendremos que compartir y discutir mucho, tú y yo. También porque creo que es importante conocernos mejor para que podamos estar cómodos más rápido y practicar el francés de una manera más entretenida.
Nunca juzgo. No quiero que te pongas nervioso ante la idea de cometer errores. Cuantos más errores cometas, ¡más aprenderás! :) Hace poco empecé una clase de canto y al principio me hizo sentir muy vulnerable y ansiosa, pero la profesora está ahí para ayudarme, así que cuantas más notas fallaba mientras cantaba, más entusiasmada estaba ella por ayudarme a mejorar jaja. ¡Pensemos así también para tu aprendizaje!

I am Sarah, a 28 year-old Belgian-Frenchie. I would love to help you learn my native language, in a fun and relaxing way! Let's make French fun for once and not a chore anymore.
So French can be quite hard to learn by yourself. I know that for a fact since both my partner and mother are originally foreigners who ended up living in France and having to adapt to this beautiful (but sometime tricky) language. They're doing their very best to master it a bit more everyday. They each have a different objective in the learning process. To give you an example, I tend to focus more on my partner's spoken French for his work so he could be able to communicate with his colleagues better, and for my mother who is fluent in speaking French, I mostly help with her grammar and written expression. That's what we'll do together you and me to target what you really want to get better at and to focus on.
My objective overall is to help you gain more confidence when expressing yourself to other French speakers. I do focus a lot on everyday-speaking-french which helps with understanding your favorite tv shows and songs better as well as words you might catch on the streets during trips to french-speaking countries.
We'll make learning French a fun and relaxed activity. I don't want it to be a chore for you or a source of anxiety. We can have online lessons or in-person classes in Alicante (if you happen to come for a visit in the sun, or if you're an Alicantino yourself!) while having a fresh cup of tea or coffee.

Soy Sarah, una belga-francesa de 28 años. Me encantaría ayudarte a aprender mi lengua materna, ¡de una manera divertida y relajante! Vamos a hacer que el francés sea divertido por una vez y no una tarea más.
El francés puede ser bastante difícil de aprender por uno mismo. Lo sé de buena tinta, ya que tanto mi pareja como mi madre son extranjeras de origen y acabaron viviendo en Francia, teniendo que adaptarse a este hermoso (pero a veces complicado) idioma. Hacen todo lo posible por dominarla un poco más cada día. Cada uno tiene un objetivo diferente en el proceso de aprendizaje. Por ejemplo, yo me concentro más en el francés hablado de mi compañero de trabajo para que pueda comunicarse mejor con sus colegas, y a mi madre, que habla francés con fluidez, le ayudo sobre todo con la gramática y la expresión escrita. Eso es lo que haremos juntos tú y yo para centrarnos en lo que realmente quieres mejorar y en lo que quieres centrarte.
Mi objetivo general es ayudarte a ganar más confianza a la hora de expresarte con otros francófonos. Me centro mucho en el francés cotidiano, lo que ayuda a entender mejor tus programas de televisión y canciones favoritas, así como las palabras que puedes encontrar en la calle durante tus viajes a países francófonos.
Haremos que aprender francés sea una actividad divertida y relajada. No quiero que sea una tarea para ti o una fuente de ansiedad. Podemos tener clases online o clases presenciales en Alicante (si por casualidad vienes de visita al sol, ¡o si tú mismo eres alicantino!) mientras te tomas una taza de té o café fresquito.
