As an Australian, I have received weekly lessons from Anton for the last 4 years. Anton has such an engaging style, the lessons with him were something I looked forward to each week, even if that meant heading through a rainy evening to the classes in Melbourne, Australia. Anton is very thorough and very knowledgeable in teaching the Italian language. He knows all the ins and outs for the citizenship tests and also has some sample questions from the actual test to practice on. I have a knowledge of the Italian language but it isn’t perfect and my conjugations weren’t often perfect. So Anton really helped me there, along with teaching me to use the correct tenses. Overall my experience was great. Anton is friendly and very easy to communicate with and also very helpful and patient - especially when correcting my mistakes. I was a student of Anton's for a couple of years, including last year. We are an Italian class at the C.A.E. in Melbourne, all of us in our 60s and 70s. Antonio is a wonderful teacher and every lesson was full of interest and diversity. Sometimes we would work on language puzzles and games, as well as very helpful listening exercises, along with our more traditional grammar and comprehension activities. We were all extremely sorry to lose him as our teacher, and I could not recommend him more highly.

I have been studying Italian for over 20 years and have had a number of teachers.
Anton, had a real give for making even the driest grammar lessons fun. He would come up with games that involved dividing the class into teams and getting us to compete by answering questions. He also got us to discuss various aspects of our lives in Italian which was always challenging but a lot of fun and we all got to learn a great deal about each other. During the long COVID lockdowns we did lessons over Zoom and Anton got each of us to take the class on a tour of our homes over Zoom. Anton was the best for make the time fly and lessons something to look forward to. I learned a great deal in the classes and was really sad when he had to move on.

Anton was my Italian teacher last year when I decided to learn the language during a long Covid lockdown. I was really impressed by his ability to teach a foreign language to students in an online platform. He was very patient with his students and did a great job in adjusting lesson plans to fit an online structure. Anton’s lessons were varied and innovated. We had reading comprehension exercises, listening exercises, sentence structure, and my favourite, the opportunity to practice speaking the language with fellow classmates. He also offered us the opportunity complete fun homework activities that I found to be a useful/practical way of learning new vocabulary. Anton was always ready to answer any questions we had and encouraged us to try our best. He brought humor to the class, which made for an enjoyable experience . Anton conducted weekly Conversation Practice with my Year 12 students of Italian. During these sessions, he furthered the students’ conversation skills in preparation for Speaking SACs, and assisted in preparing them for the end-of-year Oral Examination on the themes, topics and subtopics as outlined in the VCAA's VCE Italian Study Design.
Anton encouraged the students to develop confidence in speaking in Italian. He gauged students’ abilities in order to extend them accordingly and provided students feedback. Furthermore, he tracked their progress over sessions and regularly relayed this information back to me, as their teacher.

I have known Anton since I began Italian lessons with him in February 2020. I can attest to the fact that Anton plans his lessons thoroughly, making sure he caters for each student's ability level. Anton developed a tailor made program for me encompassing all aspects of the language (and exam): listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar. In addition to the exercises and past exam papers completed during the weekly classes, Anton gave me further assignments each week to complete before the next class, where possible, so that he could provide me with feedback.
Anton was always available to answer any questions, even after the classes, replying to all emails. He would also email me during the week to see how I was progressing.

When giving feedback for Antonio I really have to go to the beginning of my Italian lessons with him. I went to see him about my grammar and writing because although my oral was fine, the writing and grammar was lacking. We started on campus teaching and then moved to zoom meeting when it wasn’t possible. I have to say the transition was smooth and Antonio was still able to help me with my grammar and writing even when on zoom. Before the coming oral exam we spent a couple of lessons refining my oral and that was all I needed because seeming the lessons were so structured it was easy to keep on top of things and keep on track. I found those couple of lessons preparing for the oral very helpful and also the previous lessons helping my grammar and writing most useful. Antonio is a great teacher and did a superb job transitioning into online learning.

I needed an Italian tutor to undertake an Italian Citizenship Language exam. I had no previous Italian language skills, and commenced my studies with Anton for eight months. He understood my requirements and adapted my classes to my needs and worked on elevating my weaknesses. We started with the very basics, and then gradually progressed to general conversation level Italian then worked towards practice exams. He was very dedicated to helping me achieve my goals and was also very balanced and flexible with his approach. I passed the exam, which required a demonstration of intermediate Italian and was NOT easy.

I have had Antonio as my Italian teacher here in Melbourne Australia for more than five years. He makes our Italian classes enjoyable and thoughtful despite the huge differences in the language abilities within the class. Learning a new language is a huge challenge for older folk like myself and Antonio’s relaxed style of teaching gives you the confidence to move into conversation without getting too bogged down on grammatical issues.
