• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I first developed an interest in finance, economics and accounting when I was in London, UK completing my Bachelor's studies. I helped my then professor conduct tutoring sessions for students after the class who didn't understand or grasp the concepts discussed in class fully.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I am fiercely passionate about Finance, Accounting and Economics in general. With technology evolving constantly, it is important to be in the know and adapt and acquire skills to be successful in the Finance industry today.
  Outside of the academic realm, I am an early adopter and user of Cryptocurrency. I think and work everyday towards making small changes that help my students learn the subject matter a little more efficiently than the day before.

• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  Absolutely! During my second year at university, my Economics professor was my biggest influence on my decision to become his teaching assistant and tutor students that were struggling. He used real world concepts and practical ideas to illustrate how a theory concept worked. That attribute has still stuck with me to this day.

• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  Patience and perseverance are the two biggest qualities to be a good tutor in my opinion. I think that a good tutor needs to be a great listener to truly understand the pain points of their students. More importantly, it is really important to get the message across to the student that they need to consistently put in effort to get the desired results; the harder they work, the luckier they get in an exam scenario.

• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  Practical application. I think many of us during our days at school feel that in order to be ready for the exam, we need to "learn: and remember everything to successfully pass the exam. I try to approach Finance and Accounting in a very practical way, one that helps me understand the material at a very rudimentary level. I have found that my style of teaching this way has helped unlock mental blocks for a lot of my students and helped them ace their exams.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  I am an entrepreneur by profession actually; I run a healthy functional seltzer company. Teaching is my passion and I do it outside of this; it gives me great joy when I can unlock a student's potential and empower them to do well in their exams.

• What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

  It gives me pure joy when I can help and mentor my students in subjects that they struggle to understand.
  I tailor every session to specifically help my students grasp the material - ahead of class, I build custom spreadsheets, ppts whatever it is that they need to be successful, free of charge!
